Offshoots Photography
I love to take photos. I've owned a camera since I was small (yes, that's a picture of me!), and having wasted countless rolls of film as a child (not to mention disposable flash bulbs), I developed an eye for composition, as well as a skill for capturing moments naturally. I saved up and bought my first film SLR as a student, and enrolled on a photography course where I learnt much about composition, exposure, and how to use a darkroom - I revelled in playing with black & white and infra red film, developed and printed them myself with blankets over the windows, and built up a portfolio of weird and wonderful images,
some of which even now adorn my walls.
Friends soon started asking me to photograph them, and their weddings, and as my confidence grew so did my range - I started out with landscapes and still life, which in hindsight was much easier than fast moving subjects like young children! I've been working with digital for over 20 years (and the Adobe suite of photo editing software for even longer), and although I no longer dig out the darkroom equipment, I do love to get the most out of every image and always go the extra mile to make the most of what has been captured.
I've developed an abiding love of photographing children and families; there is a sparkle to their connection with each other and the environment around them, and capturing that on camera is a genuine privilege. I also love to work with the natural light of the surroundings, endeavouring to immortalise those special memories for you to enjoy for years to come.
